Popbitch ( www.popbitch.com ) is a weekly gossip newsletter out of London.
From this week's issue:
Happy Slapping is so 2005. To be too
cool for school these days you have to
do the Seagull.
In schools all over London, apparently,
break-times are seeing boys running into the
bogs to masturbate furiously, collect their
jizz in the palms of their hands, then go out
and find a younger kid.... then slap them in
the face while shouting "SEAGULL!"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update: I didn't actually know what "happy slapping"
was either...until this article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_sl…
So I now firmly stand by my journal entry indicting London.

...and that's my internet tidbit for the day, aren't you glad you stopped by?
And here I thought Canon loved me (5D stuff)...
About a year and a half ago, I was shooting at a wedding reception with a 5D and I heard this "chi-chunk" sound and half my viewfinder went black. (I wrote about it, I think - kindof a shitty thing to happen)
I pulled the lens off and the mirror fell out on the floor.
I sent the body off to Canon and it came back about a week later, totally fixed and CLA'd (clean, lube, adjust) - no charge whatsoever - they even covered the shipping both ways. I thought Canon loved me, and I was a fanboy for life.
Fast forward to a couple days ago, and I see a bunch of articles pop up about how the glue holding the mirror onto the 5D is defective and Canon
Can ya help a brother out on Facebook?
Alyssa and I just set up a page for our studio in Buffalo, and we are SHAMELESSLY asking for our friends to become "fans" of ours so we feel less like losers. It's here at: http://tinyurl.com/cacozo
Add me as a friend while you're at it (Rich Mattingly)...facebook has definitely taken over as my favorite place to talk with other friends/artists...
Thanks,
Slim
Actual photo source of 'Hope' poster...
https://blogs.phillynews.com/inquirer/sceneonroad/2009/01/found_again_the_poster_source.html
It took a good long while, but someone finally found the photo that inspired/was stolen/whatever by Shepard Fairy for his "Hope" poster (https://a4.vox.com/6a00c2252765c28fdb00e398d71a8c0002-500pi)that you've now seen about 3-billion times. Hell, I have a sticker of it from moveonDOTorg.
Interesting stuff - TinEye offers some "hope" (no pun intended) for finding your work if it's used without your knowledge, but for the most part, you're hosed.
I think Fairy is more than covered by "fair use" or whatever, and I don't really have a problem with him
Need some help...
..from a designer maybe...does anyone have a copy of Helvetica Neue and its varities? I'm looking for Helvetiva Neue 75 Bold in particular, but I also need a couple of others to compliment....
I mean, I could buy it from linotype, but I want to try a couple things out before I drop 125 bucks on it...
Any help, I'll love you forever.
